Which option is right for me?
Hiking bus: Public bus services take you to many starting points throughout the valley. Travel is free with the Mobility Ticket.
Hiking taxi: The hiking taxi runs to selected starting points at scheduled times.
Taxi services to mountain huts: Scheduled taxi services run to selected mountain huts on certain days of the week. This allows you to start your hike directly from a mountain hut or travel up to the hut in comfort.
Individual taxi journey: Would you like to travel to a different mountain hut or starting point, or do you need a journey outside the scheduled times? You can contact a taxi company directly to arrange an individual journey.
Public bus services provide convenient access to many starting points for hikes in Grossarltal.
Postbus route 540 connects St. Johann, Grossarl and Hüttschlag. Route 541 takes you from Grossarl into Ellmautal as far as Klausbauer or Grundlehen.
With the Mobility Ticket, you can travel free of charge.
The hiking taxi takes you to selected starting points for hikes and mountain tours that cannot be reached by public bus.
It is particularly useful for valley crossings and multi-day hikes when the start and end points of your route are in different locations.
Free travel to the hiking starting point with the guest card
With the Grossarltal guest card, you can use the following hiking taxi services free of charge at the times listed in the timetable.
You can also use these services without a guest card. In this case, the regular fare applies. Journeys outside the stated timetable are subject to a charge even with the guest card and are billed at the regular taxi rate.

- Pick-up from your accommodation is available on request at a special rate.
The hiking taxi can also take you to other hiking starting points on request, for example to the Vorderstadluck car park. These journeys are not included in the free scheduled services available with the guest card. Information about journey times and prices is available directly from the respective taxi company.
Hike from the mountain stations to Aualm or climb Gamskarkogel from Tofernalm. To make these and other hikes easier to reach, scheduled taxi services are available to selected mountain huts.

In addition to the scheduled services, many mountain huts in Grossarltal can also be reached individually by taxi.
Arrange your journey directly with a taxi company. We recommend booking the day before. Prices are available on request from the respective provider.
For example, you can start your hike directly from a mountain hut or simply enjoy a relaxing stop for refreshments and the mountain panorama without having to complete the entire ascent on foot.
