Ski touring days in the Mountaineering Village of Hüttschlag
January 16 - 19, 2025
Grossarltal, extending for approximately 30 kilometers, is one of the longest and most charming Tauern valleys in Salzburger Land. While Grossarl, the main town in the middle of the valley, focuses on alpine skiing in winter, the atmosphere in the Mountaineering Village of Hüttschlag, just 8 km south at the entrance to Hohe Tauern National Park, is somewhat more tranquil.
Guests here especially appreciate the unique nature, the hospitality of the locals, and the countless ski-touring opportunities, reports Sepp Kendler. He is the chairman of the Grossarl-Hüttschlag Chapter of the Austrian Alpine Association and also chairman of BERG-GESUND, which offers around 320 guided outdoor activities throughout the year. In winter, the program includes introductory tours with equipment checks, idyllic snowshoe hikes, extended ski tours, and winter fitness days. Safety and competency, along with the health aspects, are top priorities.
During ski touring days, you will get to experience several program highlights and particularly rewarding destinations in and around the Mountaineering Village of Hüttschlag, a destination well worth a visit throughout the year. Although Grossarltal is known as the "Valley of Mountain Huts" in summer, it can rightly be called the "Valley of Ski Tours" in winter.
