Family program at the Salzburger Mountain Advent
Christmas experiences for children
Shining children's eyes, glistening snow, and a magical Advent atmosphere: the Salzburg Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley offers a special treat for young visitors. Because a visit to the Advent market should feel like a Christmas fairytale for children. There are exciting stations throughout the market and plenty to discover. The real highlight, however, is the children's Advent. Surrounding the Grossarl Music Pavilion, there's a fairytale forest with animals, a campfire, a carousel, and much more. Discover the magic of the Christmas season in the Grossarl Valley with the whole family.
Highlights for children
Program 2026

Sheep, goats, and alpacas look forward to fresh hay and cuddles from all children at the Salzburg Mountain Advent. You can find the petting animals right at the entrance to the Children's Advent Festival, near the bandstand.
Alpaca walks:
every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The dough sticks to your fingers, sprinkles are scattered all over the kitchen, and the sweet smell of Christmas cookies wafts from the oven: this is how children experience and taste the magic of Advent in the children's cookie bakery. After all, what would Christmas be without homemade treats?
Cookie baking for children
every Friday and Monday, 7 December 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
every Sunday and public holiday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
TIP: The homemade delicacies can of course be taken home (if they haven't been eaten beforehand).

How does the Christ Child know what you want? Here in Grossarltal, you simply write a letter to the Christ Child. To make sure that all wishes arrive safely, there are hard-working angels at the Salzburg Mountain Advent who help with the writing. The angels at the angel post office have the best direct contact with the Christ Child and forward the wishes as quickly as possible.
