seasonal & regional Specialties in Grossarltal

When you dine in Grossarltal, you're truly in for a treat. Take the local favorite, Sauerkäse, for instance – this tangy cheese specialty is just one of the many culinary treasures crafted in the Grossarltal region, celebrated for its mouthwatering delights. It shares the stage with other cheese treats like sweet, creamy Süsskäse and fresh, soft cheeses that are as authentic to the region as the mountains themselves.

Numerous restaurants will spoil you with local delicacies. The selection ranges from traditional Austrian fare to a taste of international cuisine – the menus here have it all.

Celebrate the good times in cozy bars and pubs. Come winter, most of these “watering holes” are abuzz with après-ski vibes.

During winter season, the ski huts on the slopes of Grossarltal-Dorfgastein promise you a real treat. In summer, about 40 staffed mountain huts entice hikers and mountain bikers with homemade delicacies such as bread, butter, bacon, sausages, and of course, cheese. And it's almost obligatory to sample the locally distilled schnapps.
