Family Trekking
Mid-June to Mid-September 2026
Family Trekking offers a 3-day hike with the entire family from hut to hut. With child-friendly daily stages and a walking time of 3 to 4 hours, youngsters from 4 years old can easily complete this hike.
There's also plenty of time to build little dams, create root houses, and playfully discover the beauty of the mountains along the way. However, this weekly package does require a bit of adventurous spirit from mom and dad. Be aware that overnight stays in alpine huts mean forgoing a few creature comforts. With careful preparation, however, nothing stands in the way of this 3-day hike with 2 overnight stays at alpine huts.

At mountain huts, you will forego some of the creature comforts of modern lift. However, exciting games ensure entertaining evenings inside the huts – without TV, internet, or game consoles. Your overnight stay in the mountains becomes a true adventure when the wind howls around the hut and the old beams begin to creak.
At the huts, you'll be woken up by the clanging of cowbells or by Wastl the farm dog barking outside the door.
Information about the tours
Who are our trekking tours suitable for?
Our trekking tours are ideal for families who love hiking, active connoisseurs and nature lovers who want to discover the Grossarltal step by step. The routes are designed to be easily manageable while offering authentic mountain experiences – with cosy overnight stays in mountain huts, varied trails and impressive views.
The specific hiking tour will be tailored to your individual needs, depending on the availability of overnight stays in mountain huts. This means that the actual route may differ from the examples given.
Of course, the tours can be adapted and extended depending on your fitness level, hiking experience and personal preferences. If a suggested route is not possible, for example due to fully booked alpine huts, we will be happy to put together a suitable alternative for you with similar walking times and a comparable experience.
Our mini tours are ideal for families with children aged 4 and above. The daily stages are deliberately designed to be family-friendly and take around 2 to 3 hours per day.
This creates a varied, easily manageable mountain experience with plenty of time to marvel, discover and enjoy.
The maxi tours are aimed at families with children aged 6 and above who already have some hiking experience and can easily manage longer stages. The daily walking times are around 4 to 5 hours.
The tours therefore offer an intense experience of nature with varied trails, impressive views and the special feeling of sharing genuine summit moments together.

Children will find their personal piece of paradise around the huts: alpine meadows, springs, small forests, and lots of animals, including pigs, cows, sheep, horses, and goats.
The hiking stages are child-friendly, so there's plenty of time to pick berries and mushrooms along the way, build houses between the tree roots, and play, rest, observe, and listen. You might hear marmots whistling and springs babbling, as eagles soar high above your head. Perhaps you'll even spot a deer or a chamois.
