Holidays are known to be the best time of the year and for many people, their four-legged friend is a must. The Grossarl Valley is a wonderful place to explore with your best animal friend. In both summer and winter, the valley of alpine pastures is an ideal destination with dog-friendly accommodation, numerous walking and hiking trails, restaurants and excursion destinations in the valley and the surrounding area. There are a few rules to follow to ensure a harmonious holiday with your dog.
Rules for good cooperation
- Dogs must be kept on a lead in the entire municipal area of Grossarl. This also applies to all walking and hiking trails, public and private roads, forest roads, etc.
- Leashes are not compulsory in the Hüttschlag municipal area except in the Hüttschlager Talschluss (car park Talschluss to Ötzlsee).
- When using the Grossarl cable cars (Panoramabahn & Kieserlbahn) and public transport, dogs must be kept on a lead and wear a muzzle.
- Dogs are not allowed on playgrounds and the cross-country ski trail.

Dog waste can be disposed of at the dog waste stations in Großarl and Hüttschlag. The stations are located along many footpaths and throughout the municipality. There are also free ‘dog bags’ for everyone, so that the paths remain clean and everyone can enjoy the beautiful nature.
