Family Trekking mid-June to end-September 2017
Family Trekking
This family trekking offer features a 3-day hike with the whole family from hut to hut. With child-friendly daily stages and walking times of 3 to 4 hours, children ages 4 and up can easily manage this hike.

It also leaves you with plenty of time along the way to build dams or forest shelters, playfully discovering the beauty of our mountain world. That said, this week-long hike does demand a bit of courage on the part of mom and dad to try something out of the ordinary.

At mountain huts, you will have to forego some of the major creature comforts. Nonetheless, exciting games guarantee entertaining evenings spent up at the huts - completely without TV, Internet or play consoles. A night at a mountain hut becomes a memorable adventure whenever the wind picks up and swirls around the hut and the old beams begin to creak.

Next morning at the hut, you will be awoken by the jangling of cow bells or by the woofing of the sheep dog outside your front door.

We have gone ahead and designed a few different tours for you to consider during your "Family Trekking" stay with us.
The "Mini Tours" are suitable for families with children ages 4 and older. The walking time (calculated with small children in mind) is 2 to 3 hours per day. The elevation gain is between 720 and 1,012 meters.

The "Maxi Tours" are suitable for families with children 6 and older. The walking time (again, calculated with your children in mind) is 4 to 5 hours. Elevation gains in this case are from 1,305 to 1,845 meters.

Naturally, tours can be extended based on physical condition and what you are in the mood for. If our suggested tours are not possible, perhaps because huts along the way have no vacancies, we will be happy to suggest a custom-tailored route for you once you get here.
Higlights of Family Trekking
What can you expect from your family hiking vacation? "Family Trekking" is a week-long package including 5 nights at your selected accommodation category as well as 2 nights at a mountain hut, with breakfast included. Transfer to the trail head for your hike is also included. All hikers also receive a surprise gift upon arrival.

The hike is not guided. You can choose the exact days of your 3-day hike for yourself based on availability of beds on the mountain huts and what you feel up to. Should you encounter unforeseen problems, you will be able to return from the hut to the valley at any time. "Family Trekking" is available from mid-June until end-September, with daily arrival possible.

Hut accommodations are in multi-bed rooms and dorms. Warm meals are not available at all huts. In that case, your hosts will make you hearty snacks with homemade products.

One special aspect of these tours is that you can leave any luggage you don't need during your 3-day hike at your valley lodgings, even though you won't be billed for those days. "Family Trekking" packages can only be booked through Grossarltal Tourist Office, Tel.: +43 (0) 6414 / 281, E-Mail. "Family Trekking" holidays can be booked from mid-June until end-September.

  • 5 nights in the valley in your booked accommodation category

  • Transfer to the starting point of your hiking tour
