Maurachalm elev. 1,620 m (2 h walk)
The northernmost hut in Grossarltal is the Maurachalm at 1,620 m. It is the last stopping point on the Salzburger Almenweg in Grossarltal, after which the trail continues on to Wagrain.
You can reach the Maurachalm either via the hiking path, the forestry lane, or ride the gondola lift up from St. Johann/Alpendorf or Wagrain to the mountain station, then enjoy a relaxing hike to the Maurachalm. Mountain bikers are able to make their way to the hut using the forestry lane.
The hut hosts treat hikers to homemade dishes, freshly baked doughnuts and a fine selection of schnapps including rowan- and elderberry. This hut is also a popular venue for folk musicians and singers.
