Draugsteinalm-Schrambachhütte elev. 1,778 m (1 1/2 h walk)
Via an old alpine trail, you will reach both of the Draugsteinalmen huts (elev. 1,778 m) in about 1 ½ h. They lie at the foot of the Draugstein, a rather unusual mountain for Grossarltal – like the Schuhflicker and Höllwand, an imposing limestone edifice. Which also explains why the flora surrounding the Draugstein is so exceptional. Blooming here in early summer, especially, are some of the most beautiful alpine flowers imaginable.
The Draugsteinalm-Schrambachhütte is the hut on the right when viewed from below. Here, the hosts turn the milk from their cows into butter and various cheeses. The snacks they serve with home-bake bread, different cheeses, butter, sausage and bacon are prepared with loving care.
For hikers, and especially those who are hiking along the Salzburger Almenweg, the Draugsteinalm-Schrambachhütte also provides room for 15 people to spend the night – so, nothing more stands in the way of your memorable night enjoyed up in the mountains.
