Villa Trapp, the original home of the Sound of Music family, was opened as a hotel to great media attention. Thousands of guests have come with their stay fulfilled a lifelong wish. The ORF Christmas show with Elisabeth von Trapp was filmed in the villa. Villa Trapp was the subject of the Ophrah Winfrey Show. It was the filming location for the 50th anniversary of the movie on ABC. The villa was the setting for the Belgian casting show for the main actress, Maria. The Vill Trapp gained worldwide attention as a “pit stop” in the reality show “The Amazing Race” (30 million viewers).

The Sound of Music World was the first Sound of Music Museum in Salzburg. It was opened without public funding in the heart of the city of Mozart and delighted thousands of visitors with the true contemporary history of the Trapp family and the differences to the Sound of Music.
