Village of Grossarl
Grossarl (elev. 920 m) has been a market town since 1965 and was declared an “Europa Village” in 1981. It has a population of 3800 and around 4600 guest beds. In addition to tourism, the locals live from agriculture and forestry as well as well-structured small- and medium-size businesses.
Village of Hüttschlag
Hüttschlag (elev. 1,020 m) is a former mining community. Since 1991, it has been part of Hohe Tauern National Park. In addition, it is one of Austria’s “Mountaineering Villages”. This village of around 920 permanent residents offers some 550 guest beds and, with its picturesque valley head as well as the Talwirt National Park Info Center and the Valley Museum, is a popular excursion destination for young and old.
