“Alpine Pastures – between Heaven and Earth”, at the Valley Museum
Valley Museum – “Alpine Pastures – between Heaven and Earth”

A unique interactive exhibition has been created in Hüttschlag, the “National Park Village”, focusing on regional culture, alpine farming and forest inside the national park. "Alpine Pastures – between Heaven and Earth" is the name of the new exhibition, inviting you to get to know this fascinating world.

Opening hours and prices
The Valley Museum opens daily from beginning of May to end of October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prices: Adults € 7.00, children € 4.00 (for the first child, the others are free of charge). Group prices (from 15 people) € 5.00/pers.; retiree with identity card € 5.00 pers.

Around € 800,000 was invested in this fascinating exhibition during 2015. Andreas Zangl from Graz was responsible for the exhibition’s overall artistic design, already having provided impressive evidence of his expertise at National Park Center Mittersill.

Within Hohe Tauern National Park, each individual National Park Museum isn’t expected to address the full spectrum of themes. In fact, the preference is for a museum to focus on themes that are more relevant to the region in question. That said, the exhibition “Alpine Pastures – between Heaven and Earth” fits Grossarltal marvelously, this “Valley of Mountain Huts”.

Modern, yet with deep local roots, the Valley Museum is also a great tip for bad-weather days in Grossarltal. Here, it isn’t only adults who learn important, interesting facts about this world of mountain huts and alpine pastures. There is a lot here for kids to discover as well. Worthy of special note: “Cow Bingo”, “Memory” and interactive cheese-making.

But don’t just take our word for it: Come experience the variety of this exhibition at the Valley Museum in Hüttschlag for yourself.
