Blasius Day used to be the day when servants were allowed to change the farms they worked at. All of their worldly belongings (often not very many) were packed onto horse-drawn carts, which were then transported to their next place of employment.
In 2017, this event will be commemorated for the 22nd time by the so-called “Schlenkerfahrt”. Farmers will gather and drive their carriages from the valley head in Hüttschlag all the way to Grossarl. Today’s Schlenkerfahrt provides the opportunity for a high-spirited winter journey through Grossarltal. Once in Grossarl, participants are greeted by food & drinks served at inns and restaurants in town.
