The "Valley of the Alms"
The Grossarl Valley is renowned for its multitude of mountain huts (alms) open to the public, which give the valley its nickname of "Valley of the Alms".
Approx. 40 huts (the most in one part of the province of Salzburg!) cater for walkers on the 250 km of marked footpaths leading into the National Park Hohe Tauern. [ further details ]
For "non-locals", wishing to walk as part of a group, there are 3 free walks per week in the Grossarl Valley, led by a National Park warden.
A very special experience for body and soul are the church services on the mountain, which take place annually on various peaks and alms. You're warmly invited to celebrate with us. [ further details ]
Mountain and walking guides (also high alpine tours) are available from Sport Lackner in the Grossarl Valley. [ further details ]
