Hirschgrubenalm1,564 m (1 - 2 hours)

The around 90 year old Hirschgrubenalm nestles in a wide valley bowl and is a popular hiking destination whatever the weather. Walkers of all ages can reach the hut without any difficulty along the forest path from the Oberneureit farm - approx. 4 km after Hüttschlag (approx. 1 hour) or along the footpath from the Hüttschlag main road (at the Karteisdörfl turn-off) or fromHüttschlag - Wolfau (approx. 2 hours) or directly from the centre of Hüttschlag (approx. 2 hours). This mountain hut also offers 2 and 3-bedded rooms with communal showers. The Hirschgrubenalm is a well-loved starting-point for numerous hikes e.g. to the Aschlreitalm, the Modereggalm, as well as for extensive tours such as on the Spielkogel, the circular route around the Hühnerkaralm to the Hubalm or even up to the 2,884 high Keeskogel, which with its majestic glacier forms the crowning finale to the Grossarl Valley. Particularly after a grand tour, hikers look forward to a fortifying snack at the alm before the last descent.
