Gamskarkogelhütte ("Badgasteinerhütte") 2,467 m (4 - 5 hours)
The Gamskarkogelhütte stands right on the peak of the Gamskarkogel and is one of the oldest refuges in the whole Alpine region. It was built in 1828 by Archduke Johann erbaut and provides overnight accommodation for around 20 people. The Gamskarkogel is the largest grass mountiain in Europe and attracts visitors with its magnificent view of the surrounding peaks of the Hohe Tauern range. Especially impressive are the unique early morning and evening ambiences.
Destinations: Frauenkogel, Aigenalm, Bachalm, Harbach-/Tofernalm. Open to the public from the beginning of July until the end of September.
