Bichlalm1,731 m (1 3/4 hours)
Due to its wonderfully sunny location and the spectacular panoramic views the Bichlalm ranks as one of the best-loved mountain huts in the valley. There are two ways to get there: those who prefer to take things more gently should take the weather-proof forest path, which leads from the Ellmau Valley up to the alm. Turn off to the "Lammwirt", then follow the signposts, after about 2 km you'll find a good place to park in front of the barrier. Those who don't mind a steep climb and who prefer a pretty forest path should take the "Himmelsleiter" (heaven's ladder) from the Finsterwald farm. Once up at the hut, there are tasty home-made farm produce. Above the mountain hut is a memorial cross with a beautiful carved crucifix. A sight to make you pause and take stock.
