Weekly Events in Grossarl and Hüttschlag
Guided tour to the top of the Keeskogel with Berg-Gesund

Regardless of whether you prefer outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing or mountain biking, or traditional events such as cheese-making and folk evenings: In Grossarltal, you are certain to find just what you are looking for. Here we host many different events over the course of the summer.

Unless otherwise stated, the fee should be paid in cash at the event location/meeting place. The “Aktiv” assembly point is on the lift car park, across from Hotel Edelweiss. The guided tours offered by BERG-GESUND take place in (almost) all weather and even with just 1 participant. Guided mountain-bike tours are only offered in dry weather.

BERG-GESUND – „Fit-for-the-mountain“ hiking tour 09 May until 24 October 2016
Fit-for-the-mountain

Personal trainer, nutrition expert and athletics coach Andreas Viehhauser shows you how you can arrange for yourself that the hiking tours get a pleasure. You hike together and get your circulation going, during the hike you stop at 3 stations. Here you learn simple strength and bodyweight exercises.

The hike meets at 10 a.m. at the "Aktiv" assembly point. You will return at about 12 a.m. This hike is suitable for ages 10 and up, a maximum of 10 participants. Please come equipped with hiking gear including lightweight hiking shoes and drinks. Please register through BERG-GESUND direct. Tour only in German.

E-bike tour to Loosbühelalm (elev. 1,769 m)

With a local guide you will cycle with the assistant of an electric motor to the Loosbühelalm in Grossarl.

Meets: 10 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point, returning at about 2 p.m. Fee: € 10.00/person. Please register one day in advance through Grossarltal Tourist Office, Tel.: +43 (0) 6414 / 281.

 

Please note: Minimum participation: 4 people, maximum 10; suitable for children 14 and older; bring drinks for along the way as well as rain gear, e-bike, safety helmet and some degree of physical condition is required; in dry weather only.

 

Mountain-bike tour to the Mooslehenalm (elev. 1,449 m)

Together with a mountain-bike guide, you will bike up to the Mooslehenalm. Meets 2:30 p.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point, returning at about 6 p.m. The uphill ride takes around 1 1/2  h. This is an intermediate tour. Fee € 10.00/person. Please register by 5 p.m. of the day before through Grossarltal Tourist Office (Tel.:+43 (0) 6414 / 281).

 

Minimum participation: 4 people, maximum 10, for children ages 14 and up. Good physical condition, stamina and biking skills on gravel paths, mountain bike, safety helmet, drinks and rain gear required.

Outdoor Activity Program Tennis, 09 May until 24 October 2016
Playing tennis on the sand courts at the recreation center

Play tennis with a state-certified tennis coach on sand courts at the recreation center. Everyone is welcome to participate, from rookies to pros. Balls and rackets are available to borrow.

 

Meets at the tennis courts, times by appointment. Please register by the evening before through Florian Kössner (Tel.: +43 (0) 664 / 4526440). Outdoor Activity Program Segway, 16 May until 31 October 2016
Guided segway tour in Grossarl

Easy guided segway tour in Grossarl on the cycle path to the Bichlkapelle.

Meets: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the "Aktiv" assembly point on the lift car park, the tour lasts about 1 h. Fees incl. rent of segways and helmets: € 35.00 per person. Minimum participation: 4 people, max. 6; for children ages 12 and up. Please take good shoes (no stilettos) and if you have a helmet as well as rain protection with you. Please register by midday the same day through Grossarltal Tourist Office.

BERG-GESUND – Deceleration Day in the Mountains 29 June to 14 September 2016
Slowing down the pace of your life with Fritz Reisenauer

Together with touring guide and nutrition counselor Fritz Reisenauer, you will set out on this stress-free hike. During your walk, you will give your attention to the animals and plants on our alpine pastures. In addition, your guide will provide fascinating background information about healthy nutrition.

 

The hike meets at 9 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point and will return at around 3 p.m. This hike is suitable for ages 10 and up, difficulty is moderate. Please come equipped with hiking gear including lightweight hiking shoes, rainwear and drinks. Guests of BERG-GESUND businesses are able to participate in this hike for free.

Excursion with the National Park Ranger 11 July to 5 September 2016
Hohe Tauern National Park

Accompanied by the ranger, you will hike to the valley head, one of the most pristine in the entire Hohe Tauern National Park.

Your hike departs at 1 p.m. from the Talwirt car park, returning at around 4:30 p.m. Registration is not required. This hike is free with the Grossarltal Guest Card. Tour only in German.

Outdoor Activity Program – Wildwater Rafting 10 May to September 2016
Wildwater rafting ride

You can look forward to a 12 km-long, adventurous-yet-safe wildwater rafting ride on the River Salzach from Taxenbach to Schwarzach, led by a professional guide.

 

Meets: 8:15 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point on the lift car park, returning at about 1:30 p.m. Fees incl. transfer: € 58.00/person. Please register one day in advance through Grossarltal Tourist Office, Tel.: +43 (0) 6414 / 281. (Notes: Minimum participation: 4 people, maximum 16; for children ages 8 and up; swimming ability is required; please bring swimsuits, towels, sauna needs, drinks, waterproof sunblock. Wildwater rafting also takes place in bad weather.

BERG-GESUND – Yoga Hike 10 May to 28 October 2016
Yoga hike with BERG-GESUND

The focus of this yoga hike is harmony between body, mind and soul. Experienced yoga instructor Thomas Andexer will show you a variety of yoga exercises during this relaxing hike, which is suitable for children ages 8 and older. Difficulty is easy to moderate.

 

Meets 9 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point, returning at about 1 p.m. No prior yoga experience necessary. You will need hiking clothes, boots and drinks. Registration is through BERG-GESUND. Guests of BERG-GESUND businesses can participate in this hike for free. Tour only in German.

Mountain bike tour in the valley of mountain huts

Mountain-bike tour to the Aigenalm-Paulhütte (elev. 1,280 m)

During this MTB tour to the Aigenalm-Paulhütte, you will be led by an experienced bike guide. The tour meets at 10 a.m. at the  “Aktiv” assembly point and returns at around 1.30 p.m. The bike ride up to the hut takes around 1 ¼ h, whihle difficulty is intermediate. Fee per person € 10.00. Registration is required by 5 p.m. of the day before through Grossarltal Tourist Office, Tel.: +43 (0) 6414 / 281.

 

Minimum participation: 4 people, maximum 10; suitable for children ages 14 and up; good physical condition, stamina and riding skills on gravel trails are a must: mountain bike, bike helmet, drinks and raingear are required.

 

E-bike tour to the Reitalm (elev. 1,600)

This e-bike tour leads to Hüttschlag to the Reitalm. We meet at the “Aktiv” assembly point at 10 a.m. and return at around 2 p.m. The uphill ride itself takes about 1 ½ h. Fee per person € 10.00. Please register one day advance through the Grossarltal Tourist Office, Tel.: +43 (0) 6414 / 281.

BERG-GESUND – Via Ferrata and Sampler Climbing 10 May to 28 October 2016
Intro to rock climbing with Berg-Gesund

Together with state-certified mountain guides, you will be able to enjoy your first experiences rock-climbing, on the Gletschergoass via ferrata in Hüttschlag. Experienced climbers prefer the other 3 via ferrata climbs in Hüttschlag and on the Saukarkopf.

 

You will meet at 9 a.m. at the hikers’ info board in Hüttschlag and return at about 12 p.m. The sampler via ferrata tour is suitable for children ages 12 and up, difficulty is moderate. Please bring along trainers/hiking shoes, drinks as well as a set of climbing gear. Registration is through BERG-GESUND. Sampler climbing is free for guests of member BERG-GESUND businesses.

BERG-GESUND - Hike & Fly Paragliding tour (Tandem) 05 Juni to 29 September 2016
Paragliding with Peter Hafner

During this tour, you will hike up the mountain and then fly back down. Your trained hiking guide and paragliding pilot, Peter Hafner, will accompany you on a hike taking 1 – 3 hours. Finally, you will fly back to the valley with a tandem paraglider. Tour only in German.

 

Meets 9 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point, returning by about 1 p.m. The tour is suitable for ages 12 and older, difficulty is moderate. Pilots wishing to fly solo (license required) can also make phone arrangements with Peter Hafner (Tel.: +43 (0) 664 / 4006637) to participate in the Hike & Fly Tour. Guided segway tour to a mountain hut in Grossarl.

Meets: 4:30 p.m. at the "Aktiv" assembly point on the lift car park, the tour lasts about 1 ½ h. Fees incl. rent of segways and helmets and a drink on the mountain hut: € 55.00 per person. Minimum participation: 3 people, max. 6; for children ages 12 and up. Please take good shoes (no stilettos) and if you have a helmet as well as rain protection with you. Concert 12 July to 13 September 2016
Concert performed by the town band

Concert at the bandstand in Grossarl. Begins 8 p.m. – free admission. In bad weather, the concert will not take place.

Archery at the Hoamalm

Discover the excitement of archery on an adventurous, variety-filled 3D archery trail. You will set out on your “hunt” with a guide and see just how accurate you can be with a bow & arrow. 


Meets 10 a.m.or 12 p.m. at the Hoamalm (drive up in your own vehicle). Duration: about 2 and 2 ½ h. Fee per person € 12.00 incl. bow and arrows. Maximum 15. Wild Herb Hike May to September 2016
Delicious sandwich spread

Wild-herb hike for herb lovers followed by a buffet of wild herbs, hosted by herb educator Katharina Kühr. Practical introduction to working with wild plants, herbs, flowers and medicinal plants.

 

Meets: 10 a.m. at the Raiffeisenbank in Grossarl and lasts ca. 4 ½ h. Fee: € 30.00 per person. Please bring along a pen & paper to write notes. BERG-GESUND – Challenging mountain tour 6 July to 28 September 2016
Glingspitze (Klingspitz), 2.433 m

You will circumnavigate Grossarltal in 7 challenging stages. Even for mountaineers in good condition, these alpine tours are quite a challenge.

Outdoor Activity Program – Canyoning 12 May to September 2016
Canyoning

Snuggly dressed in a warm Neoprene suit and accompanied by an experienced guide, you will swim, climb, jump, rappel and slide your way through a local canyon, flanked by spectacular rock formations and steep cliffs. What makes this hike so unique is the jumps you will take from different heights, often with the option to rappel down if you prefer. Participants must be able to swim and be willing to jump from heights of at least 2 meters.

 

Meets 8:15 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point (car park next to the lifts). Returns at around 2:30 p.m. Minimum participation 4, maximum 16. Fee: € 67.00 per person incl. transfers. Hiking guide Edi Huttegger knows much about native flowers and plants, and will share some of his knowledge with you during this Alpine Flower Hike. Tour only in German.

 

Meets 9 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point, returning at about 1 p.m. This hike is suitable for children 10 and up. Required hiking equipment: good hiking boots, raingear, drinks and snacks. BERG-GESUND – Rock climbing 12 May to 27 October 2016
Rock climbing with Berg-Gesund
Peter Gamsjäger climbs with you on the rocks. You learn how to climb on the rock - regardless if you are an experienced climber or a novice.

Meets at 9 a. m. at Auto Gschwandtl, you will return at about 12 a. m. At the tour a maximum of 6 climbers can participate, it is suitable for ages 10 and up. Needed equipment: appropriate sports gear, sport shoes and drinks. The climbing equipment can be rent directly at Peter Gamsjäger.

An opportunity to see how the valley’s famous “sour cheese” is produced. At 11 a.m.

Kösslerhäusl Heritage Museum May to October 2016
Kösslerhäusl Farm & Heritage Museum

The Kösslerhäusl is a historically listed farm and local heritage museum in Grossarl, open from 2 – 4 p.m. It also hosts a small farmers’ market where you can sample delicious country-style doughnuts.

Segway

Out-and-about on an electric vehicle which is propelled simply by shifting your weight. No actual controls are necessary for braking or speeding up.

 

Meets: 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point at the lift car park. Lasts about 45 mins. Fee: € 35.00/person. Outdoor Activity Program – “Zorbing” 13 May to October 2016
Zorbing

You roll in a zorb down the slope - each turn gives you an adrenalin rush. If the weather is good, you can even do hydro-zorbing where there is water in the zorb.

Meets: 10 a.m. at the “Aktiv” assembly point at the lift car park. Lasts about 3 hrs. Fee: € 45.00/person (transfer and 2 runs included). Registration required by Thursday 6 p.m. through the Grossarltal Tourist Office, Tel.: +43 (0) 6414 / 281.
